Took the day off work to surprise the kids

Picked them up early from school without warning. Their faces when I showed up instead of grandma were priceless. Took them to get frozen yogurt and we went to the park and just hung out. My oldest said it was the best day of his life. These are the moments you don't get back so I'm making them count.

The look on their faces is everything. I work from home now and I still try to do this every couple months because it never gets old. They go from normal school day to absolute chaos in 5 seconds.

Man, this is what it's all about. Those surprise pickup moments are going to be what they remember way more than any toy or thing you could buy them. Did you have anything planned or just rolled with whatever they wanted to do?

This is the good stuff right here. That surprise element hits different. I did something similar last month and my 6-year-old literally couldn't believe it was really me and not grandma. Totally worth taking the afternoon off.
