Unpopular opinion: Screen time limits are good but we're way too rigid about it
I see posts here about kids getting 30 mins a week and I'm like... what? My 8 and 11 year olds probably average an hour to two hours a day depending on the week. We use it strategically - educational games, coding apps, YouTube, some gaming. They still read, play outside, have friends, do sports. I think the guilt around screen time is real but also not every kid is rotting their brain at 2 hours a day. That said I'm prob opening myself up to judgment here lol. Curious what other people actually do vs what they say they do.
I appreciate you saying this because I was starting to feel like a bad parent for the screen time reality in my house. An 8 and 11 year old aren't babies anymore - they can self-regulate somewhat and they're not just passive consumers.
