Why does my 4yo think he's a dinosaur now???

This started three weeks ago after we watched Jurassic Park (yeah I know, maybe too old but he begged). Now he's ALWAYS a dinosaur. At the grocery store? Velociraptor. At his preschool? Triceratops. We can't just walk anywhere, we have to stomp/chomp/roar our way there. My wife thinks it's hilarious and won't help me get him back to normal. Ngl it's kind of endearing but also like... we have a dentist appointment tomorrow and I'm genuinely concerned he's gonna try to bite someone. Anyone else dealing with this phase???

Wait till he starts dinosaur facts at every opportunity. Mine did that phase and suddenly I had to remember what a triceratops' diet was at 7am. Worth it though.

Lowkey this is cute though? Like he's using imagination and role-play. Could be stuck on something worse. The velociraptor at the grocery store is peak 4yo energy.

The Jurassic Park thing was probably perfect honestly. He's young enough that it's awesome without being genuinely scary. And now you've got a dinosaur kid for the next few months at least.

My kid did this with sharks for like 8 months. The preschool teachers were so done with me. But he learned everything about sharks, his confidence grew, and then one day he just... stopped. Now he's into trains. They move on eventually.

lol the Jurassic Park age debate. But honestly? A dinosaur-obsessed 4yo is way better than a lot of other phases. He could be worse. Embrace the chaos for a few months.

This is peak 4yo behavior honestly. He's not confused - he's exploring. The dinosaur thing will be gone in like 3 months and replaced with something else equally random. Just roll with it.
