She's begging us to let her get TikTok because all her friends have it. I'm not comfortable with that app at all. My wife thinks maybe we could restrict it somehow but I don't think that's how it works. How are you guys handling this? What age did you let them on social media?
Don't give in. I know it sucks when they say everyone has it but 9 is still pretty young for that stuff. My kids aren't there yet but I've heard from other parents that waiting until like 12 or 13 makes a huge difference. The algorithm on TikTok is designed to be addictive and kids' brains aren't ready for that.

Have you looked into the parental controls they offer? Not saying it fixes everything but it might give you some peace of mind if you do decide to let her on.
