9 year old on YouTube all day

So my son discovered YouTube and now all he wants to do is watch videos of other kids playing games. I set a 1 hour limit but he freaks out when I take the tablet away. My wife thinks I'm being too strict. What does everyone do for screen time limits at this age? Is 1 hour reasonable or am I being a hardass?
