My 8yo spends every free minute on Roblox and wants to buy stuff with robux constantly. I don't get it, there's no real gameplay just weird mini games? And the community seems sketchy. I blocked it from her devices but she goes to her cousin's house and plays there instead. Just venting but also wondering if other parents deal with this or if my kid is just obsessed with everything.
Yeah the Robux thing gets out of hand fast. We've had to set a hard limit on it - makes those mini games feel less appealing when there's no money going in.
At 8 we started using sticker charts tied to screen time allowances, and it actually worked surprisingly well. Gives them something to work toward instead of just asking for robux.
The Roblox thing is real and the robux purchases will drain your wallet if you're not careful. We set a hard rule that no real money goes to in-game currency. My kid doesn't like it but at least I'm not getting surprised credit card charges.
My 8yo is the same way. I finally told him he could earn robux by doing chores instead of buying them. He's way less interested now which tells you something about the whole system. At least he's getting chores done though.

I don't really get the Roblox appeal either but it's what kids are into now. The robux thing though, you gotta shut that down before it becomes a habit. Set up parental controls so purchases require your approval.
