Quick question - is this normal? My 11yo spends hours setting up bots on our family Discord server and I literally cannot understand what he's doing. He tries to explain it and my eyes glaze over. Is this... actually a useful skill or is he just goofing around?
my nephew does the exact same thing and i have zero idea what he's doing. but he's FOCUSED on it which is honestly better than a lot of things kids his age are into. let him geek out
completely normal for that age honestly. 11yos getting into bot programming is actually kind of cool - it's basically learning code without realizing it. let him do his thing, he might be building real skills
the fact that you're asking instead of shutting it down puts you ahead of most dads tbh. Discord bots are legit harmless and if he's interested in tech stuff, this is a good sign. Just make sure the server is still moderated appropriately
