Anyone else's kid obsessed with YouTube shorts?

My 8yo will literally watch YouTube shorts for 3 hours straight if we let him. It's so mindless compared to watching actual videos with plot. I've been trying to limit it but the algorithm is crazy addictive. We're using Apple's downtime feature to force him off at 7pm but I'm worried about how this thing is basically designed to be addictive for kids. Rant over.

This is the struggle. My 9yo will do the exact same thing and before you know it 2 hours have gone by. I finally just set a timer now and she knows when it goes off it's done.

Yeah the shorts format is designed to be addictive. We've had to get pretty strict about screen time. Limits help but honestly it's an uphill battle.

8 year old here too and same problem. I started redirecting to actual games or outside time instead and it helped break the cycle a little bit.
