lol so my 7yo has discovered the shorts feature and now every time I pick him up from school he's like 'did you see that 30 second video about slimes???' I set it to a 30 min limit but he literally fills it with back-to-back 15-30 second videos and thinks he's being clever. Like sir you watched 60 videos in 30 minutes. Send help and also snacks because I'm exhausted.
Have you tried just asking him to show you one or two of his favorites instead of letting him freely watch? That might satisfy the need to tell you about them without the endless doom scroll.
Try switching it to just regular YouTube with parental controls instead? Shorts are designed to keep people locked in, regular YouTube is slightly less of a dopamine trap for kids.
The fact that he's memorized 'did you see' and is trying to give you spoilers on 30 second videos is somehow both hilarious and concerning
lol the fact that he's trying to tell you about every single video is wholesome though even if it's annoying. At least he's engaging with you about it.

YouTube shorts are designed to be addictive for kids. 30 min limit is solid but yeah they'll fight it because the algorithm is literally engineered to make the next one irresistible.
