Anyone use Gabb phones?

Has anyone actually tried one of these Gabb phones? They're designed for kids - no internet, just texting/calling and like basic features. My 11yo doesn't need internet on a phone, just wants to be able to call us and text friends, and this seems ideal but $200+ feels expensive for something that basic. Curious if anyone has real experience with whether they're actually durable and useful or just a marketing gimmick for paranoid parents like me.

The real question is whether your kid will actually be happy with it or just resent you for being different from their friends. My son refused to use his for like a month.

Gabb phones are solid but the Bark Phone might be worth looking at too if you want more features. Both are way less dopamine-inducing than a regular smartphone which is the whole point I guess.

My cousin's kids have them and the parents swear by them. One thing to note is the app selection is pretty limited but that's kind of the selling point right?

We got one for our 12yo last year and honestly it's been great. She can still text and call but no TikTok rabbit holes at 2am. The thing that sold me was the GPS tracking without the constant notifications.

How much are they running? Saw they were pretty pricey compared to just getting a regular phone and using parental controls.
