Best parental control apps?

Looking to set up some controls on my kids tablets before we hand them off. Want to limit app access, screen time, and make sure theyre not stumbling into weird stuff. Ive heard good things about some apps but they all seem expensive. Anyone have recommendations that actually work or am I just wasting money?

I use Screen Time on iOS for my daughter's iPad. You can set app limits, downtime schedules, and restrict what she can download. Game changer. Way better than trying to police it manually and it's built in so no extra app to manage.

The native controls are honestly your best bet. Screen Time on Apple devices and Family Link on Android are both solid and you don't need to pay for extra apps. I tried third party stuff and it was just bloated. Stick with what comes built in.

Check out Google Family Link if your kids are on Android. Lets you set bedtimes, app limits, and you get notifications when they try to download stuff. Been using it for about a year and it works solid. Some tweaking needed but way better than nothing.
