Coding camps - worth the money?

Looking at a $500 summer coding camp for my 9yo. It's Python basics, 4 weeks, 2 hours a week. My wife thinks it's a waste but I'm thinking about future skills and all that. Kid seems interested in making games.

Has anyone done these? Are they actually engaging or is it just screen time with a fancy name? What's a realistic expectation for a 9 year old who's never coded before?
