Willing to pay. We've tried like 8 different apps and they're all either too babyish or boring. Help me out?
Try Prodigy Math instead of Khan. It's got more of a game vibe so kids stay engaged longer. Costs a little but my 8yo actually asks to do it which is wild for a math app.
Honestly the best math app we've found is actually just playing Minecraft with math components. Sounds weird but my kid learned fractions better building stuff than any app.
Word Cookies for vocab building is free and my 8yo loves it. It's just word puzzles but they're sneaky good for building vocabulary and spelling. Only downside is she gets frustrated when she gets stuck.
Duolingo is solid for vocabulary even though it's language focused. The gamification actually works and my 8yo does like 5 minutes a day without me asking. Not sure if that fits what you're looking for though.
Check out Brilliant.org. More expensive than some apps but the learning is actually solid and doesn't feel like homework. They have math and logic stuff that older kids find engaging.

Have you looked at Reading Eggs? It's specifically designed for this age and it's more engaging than Khan. Little pricey but the trial period is long enough to know if your kid will use it.
