Finally got my 8yo to actually use parental controls

So I've been fighting with my kid about screen time for months. He kept finding ways around everything I set up. Last week I sat down with him and actually explained WHY we have limits instead of just forcing it. Now he actually respects the controls and doesn't try to sneak around them. Still can't believe it worked. Anyone else have luck with the honest conversation approach?
