Finally got my kids off their phones at dinner
Took 3 weeks of actually enforcing it but now our family dinners don't look like a zombie convention. My rule is simple: phones go in a basket by the kitchen before we eat. My 14 year old complained like crazy at first but now he doesn't even think about it. Wife says the dinner conversations are actually interesting again. If you're struggling with this I recommend just doing it consistently instead of nagging.
Three weeks?? That's commitment. We tried phone-free dinners and lasted about four days before someone cracked. How'd you actually enforce it without it becoming a battle?
Zombie convention is the perfect description. We're getting there but some nights it's still a fight. Did you go cold turkey or phase it in?
