Fortnite addiction is real and I'm losing my mind

My 11 year old has gone full Fortnite zombie. I told him weekdays max 30 mins and he's literally counting down the hours at school. Started arguing about homework time, says he can play while doing assignments. His friends are all playing and I feel like the bad guy but I can't let him stare at a screen for 4 hours after school. How do you guys handle this without becoming the most hated parent in the friend group?

30 mins on weekdays is actually pretty reasonable but yeah good luck enforcing that with an 11 year old. That's the hardest part of the whole thing.

Yeah the 30 min rule is solid but maybe find something else to fill that void after school? My kids are into tournaments every weekend so by the time they get home they're beat. Just a thought.

Dude this is tough but you're doing the right thing setting boundaries. Stick with it. My 7yo tried the same negotiation tactics and it only works if we stay firm.

Man, I feel this. My oldest got obsessed with Fortnite last year and it was the same thing - counting down minutes like it was his job. We switched to letting him earn time through chores and homework instead of just handing it out. Game changer.

The counting down thing is real. My oldest does exact same thing with Fortnite. Started setting a timer on my phone that makes an actual alarm so there's no argument about when time is up.

Man I'm dreading this stage. My daughter's only 3 but hearing about Fortnite battles from other dads makes me nervous about what's coming.
