Fortnite is ruining my 10yo's summer

I let him play during the school year like 30 mins on weekends but now it's June and he literally wants to play 8 hours a day. Won't go to the park with me, blows off his friends IRL, just stares at his iPad. I set the app limit to 2 hours and he just asks me to override it constantly. It's turning into a battle every single day and I'm losing my mind. How do you guys actually enforce screen time without it becoming WW3 in your house?

30 mins on weekends during school is actually pretty reasonable. The jump to unlimited in summer is rough though.

Summer screen time is a whole different beast isn't it. No school = no natural off switch. We ended up doing an hour a day limit and it caused actual wars but we held the line.

The problem is all his friends are playing which makes it harder to take away. It's not just a game to them it's social.

This sucks but real talk, getting him into literally anything else outside helps. We signed our son up for a summer camp and it naturally cut his gaming time because he was too tired.

Honestly some kids just get obsessed with Fortnite. My nephew is the same way. We tried everything until we finally just let it happen and then he got bored of it in August.

Have you tried the parental controls that restrict playtime? Not trying to nag but that changed everything for us.
