Gaming addiction or just being a normal kid?
My 12yo boy is obsessed with Minecraft and Roblox. Like he wakes up thinking about it, asks to play before school, gets cranky when we shut it down. He's doing fine in school, plays sports, has friends, so maybe it's fine? But my gut says it's getting unhealthy. How do I tell the difference between a kid who just really loves gaming vs actual addiction? Should I be more concerned?
Normal kid stuff usually doesn't keep them up at night or make them irritable when they can't access it. Maybe try a week with zero games and see what happens? Could just be habit or could be something more.
I'd channel it instead of fighting it. My 12yo loves gaming and we actually got him into coding because of it. Might be the thing he gets passionate about. Just set boundaries on time, not the interest itself.
