Gaming has actually improved my relationship with my son

This might sound weird but bear with me. My 11 year old got really into Minecraft and I was worried it was unhealthy until I realized he wanted to show me his builds. So I started playing with him on the same server. Now we spend like 45 mins a few times a week building stuff together. It's actually our bonding time. We talk about his day, his friend drama, stuff that's bothering him. I learned more about what's going on with him in the past month of gaming together than the previous year of asking him how school was. Not saying gaming is the answer to everything but sometimes meeting them where they are works better than fighting against it.
