Gaming is destroying my relationship with my teenage son

My 15yo is on his phone or Xbox basically every moment he's not in school. Grades are dropping, he won't come to family dinners, just locked in his room. I've tried taking the console away and he absolutely loses it. Feel like I'm losing him to this stuff and I don't know how to get him back without just being the bad guy all the time. Anyone dealt with actual gaming addiction in their kids? Thinking about getting professional help.
