Gaming with my teenager actually saved our relationship

So I started playing Minecraft with my 14yo son instead of just letting him play alone and complaining about screen time. Turns out we actually talk more now, he explains the game to me, we build stuff together. It's become our thing. Not saying unlimited gaming is the answer but man, joining him instead of fighting him made a huge difference. Anyone else discovered this?

Gaming together hits different than just monitoring their screen time. My 6yo and I play some chill stuff together and it's actually our best bonding time. No pressure, no agenda, just vibing. Glad you found that connection with your son.

Man, this is the kind of thing I need to hear. Work and sports schedules have me running around so much that quality time is hard to come by. Gonna give this a shot this weekend.

This is awesome. I've been meaning to do something similar with my oldest but kept thinking he'd think I was lame. Sounds like he actually wants to hang out with you now instead of just tolerating you in the house. That's huge.
