How are you guys handling screen time with kids home from school?

Summer break started yesterday and my wife and I are already arguing about how much iPad time we let the kids have. I want to say 2 hours max, she thinks we should be more flexible. Our kids are 6 and 8. What's actually reasonable? Sometimes I feel like tablets are a lifesaver when I need 30 mins of peace to cook dinner but I also don't want them spending entire days on screens. Anyone have a system that actually works or am I overthinking this?
