I let my son watch maybe 30 minutes of cartoons in the morning before daycare and sometimes we'll do a movie on the weekend. My mom says I'm being too restrictive but other parents at pickup make it sound like any screen time is basically child abuse. What's the real consensus here? I feel like I'm either doing it right or completely messing up with no in between.
You're doing fine. 30 minutes before daycare is totally reasonable and a weekend movie isn't going to hurt anything. My kids turned out okay and we've done plenty more than that.

Four year old here too and I think 30 minutes is solid. The anxiety about it is worse than the actual screen time honestly. You're clearly thinking about it which means you're doing okay.

30 minutes is totally reasonable. I aim for similar and some days it's a bit more, some days less. The key is that it's not the only thing they're doing. As long as he's playing outside and doing other stuff, you're fine.
