How much screen time is actually reasonable for a 6 year old?

My son has been asking to play on the iPad more and I feel like every parent group I'm in has a different opinion. Some people say none, some say hours. We're doing about 30 mins on school days and maybe an hour on weekends. Is that insane? He's doing fine in school, still plays outside, but I worry I'm messing him up somehow. What are you guys doing?

Every parent group has different rules because honestly there's no perfect answer. Six year olds are still developing, so I'd lean conservative. But don't stress too much about what everyone else is doing either.

We do 30-45 minutes on school days, a bit more on weekends. Honestly though every kid is different. My oldest is fine with it, my middle one would play for 8 hours straight if I let him. What matters more is what else they're doing instead of screen time.

The iPad thing is tough because it seems educational sometimes but then you realize they're just swiping through stuff. Our daughter is 6 and we keep it pretty limited. Maybe an hour on weekends if she's been good all week.
