How much screen time is too much for a 6 year old?

My son has been asking for a Switch for months and I finally caved on his birthday. Now he wants to play every second he's not in school. My wife thinks we should limit it to weekends only but I'm worried he'll feel like we're being unfair compared to his friends. What are you guys doing? How do you handle the balance without being the mean parent?

Man, the Switch is tough because it's so easy for them to disappear into it. I'd maybe set a schedule now before it becomes a full battle. Been there with three kids.

We went through this with my oldest. Set some hard limits upfront or it'll never stop. We do 30 mins on school days, bit more on weekends. Your wife's probably right to pump the brakes early.
