How strict are you guys with screen time for elementary kids?

My wife and I have been going back and forth on this. Our kids are 7 and 9, they want to play Roblox with their friends constantly. We're doing 1 hour on school days and a bit more on weekends but honestly I feel like we're being way too strict compared to their friends. But also I remember being that kid and I turned out fine. What's everyone else doing? Are we being helicopter parents or is everyone just letting it slide these days?

This is the exact conversation happening in my house right now. We set a 45 minute limit on school days and it has been a battle. The thing is Roblox is actually not terrible for creativity but finding that sweet spot between access and obsession is rough. What's your thinking on it?

Honestly I'd be more worried about the chat features in Roblox than the game itself. Make sure you know their settings and maybe play with them occasionally to see what they're actually doing. Sets a good precedent too.

We're dealing with this with our 8 year old. Our compromise has been weekends only for the first couple months and it's actually held pretty well. I know that won't work for everyone but it gave them something to look forward to instead of fighting about it every single day.

At 7 and 9 I think some supervised Roblox time is fine but you gotta set boundaries before they set them for you. My rule is no screens during homework or meals and that seems to work. Also helps that I actually know what game they're playing so I can spot bad behavior early.
