iPad parenting at restaurants - judgment is real

Took my 4 year old to dinner last night and he was being crazy so I put him on my iPad with YouTube Kids. This lady at the next table literally stared at me the whole time like I was the world's worst parent. Look, I don't do this every day but sometimes you need the peace and quiet. Does anyone else just not care what people think? Am I actually damaging my kid or is this just modern parenting reality?

That stare would've sent me over the edge. Look, YouTube Kids is literally designed for this exact situation. You're not alone in this and you're definitely not a bad parent for using it.

People who judge are usually the ones without kids or they forgot what it was like. You're keeping your sanity at dinner, that's a win in my book. My 4 year old would've knocked over the water glasses without some screen time to settle down.

Don't sweat it man. Every parent has their survival tools and iPads are one of them. My kids are getting better at sitting through meals, but it took time and yeah, some screens along the way.
