Is 2 hours screen time on weekends reasonable for 8 year old?

My son has been asking for more gaming time on Saturdays and Sundays. Right now he gets like 1 hour on school days and I was thinking 2 hours on weekend days is fair since he's doing his homework and chores. My wife thinks that's too much. What are you guys doing with your kids this age? I don't want him glued to a screen but I also don't want to be the strictest parent on the block.

I've been down this road with all three of mine and honestly 2 hours is right in that sweet spot. The key is being consistent about it and maybe having him earn extra time with chores or homework done right. Keeps the peace.

2 hours on weekends sounds fair to me, especially if he's sticking to 1 hour on school days. We do something similar with our kids and it gives them something to look forward to without going overboard.

That's pretty reasonable for an 8 year old on weekends. Just make sure he's also getting outside time and physical activity since he'll have more free time than on school days.
