Is 2 hours screen time on weekends too much for an 8 year old?

My son has been asking for more gaming time on Saturdays and Sundays. Right now he gets about 1 hour on school days and we usually let him have 2 hours split between gaming and YouTube on weekends. My wife thinks thats fine but I'm worried hes not getting enough outdoor time. We live in a decent neighborhood so he can play outside but he always wants to stay in. Anyone else dealing with this? How much screen time do you guys allow on weekends?

Two hours on weekends sounds pretty reasonable to me. My kids get similar and we just make sure they're getting outside time and family stuff too. The key is balance, not deprivation.

I'm doing the same thing with my son and honestly the screen time negotiations are killing me after a full work week. Two hours feels like a fair compromise if he's earning it with good behavior during the week.

That's not bad at all. My kids would lose their minds if I cut it back, and frankly after the week they've had they deserve some downtime. Just keep the 1 hour on school days and you're golden.
