Looking for opinions on whether I should spring for third party parental control apps or if the built in Apple Screen Time is decent enough. I have twin 12yr olds and want to monitor what they're doing without being crazy overbearing. What do you guys use? Any recommendations?
I went down the third party route after feeling like Screen Time wasn't doing enough. Honestly? It's okay but not game-changing. Apple's tools are better integrated and easier to manage. Save the money unless you have specific needs Screen Time doesn't address.
The built-in controls are actually pretty decent. What matters more is having actual conversations with your kids about why limits exist. I see too many parents trying to solve screen time issues with software when the real answer is parenting and involvement.

Apple Screen Time is actually pretty solid for the basics. I use it and combine it with just being present about what the kids are doing online. The third party apps are nice but they're also usually more expensive and complicated. Start with what you have.
