Is Fortnite really that bad for kids?

My 10 year old has been begging to play Fortnite with his cousin and I'm not sure what to think about it. I've heard some scary stories about gaming addiction and in-game chat stuff but he seems responsible otherwise. His grades are good. Should I let him play? Any parents here let their kids play and have rules around it that actually work?
