Is Roblox actually okay for kids?

My 7 and 10 year olds have gotten into Roblox and I'm not totally sure what it is. Seems like a game where kids can make their own games? Looked into it a bit and some of the games seem sketchy. Plus there's a chat feature. I've turned off chat but now they're asking why they can't talk to their friends on there. I feel like I'm always behind on what app is popular and what's actually safe. This stuff is complicated.

Roblox is basically a platform where kids play games made by other users, so the quality and content varies wildly. I let my son on it but I spot-check what he's playing and keep an eye on chat features. Good idea to dig into it yourself first.

It's kind of like Minecraft in that kids can build and create, which is cool, but there's a lot of user-generated stuff so parental controls are important. We set time limits and make sure chat is restricted on our end.

We let my 7 year old play supervised on the family PC for like 30 minutes on weekends. The main concern is yeah, the in-game economy trying to get kids to spend money. Other than that it's pretty tame compared to other stuff out there.

It's pretty much okay if you set the right boundaries. The games vary wildly in quality and some can get sketchy with the social features. I'd recommend checking out a few of the games your 10 year old plays just so you know what they're doing. Makes the conversations easier too.

Roblox is basically a platform where kids can play user-created games. The big thing to monitor is the social aspect and in-game purchases. My kid is into it too and I turned off the ability to spend robux without asking me first. That's the main thing that was worrying me.
