My son is obsessed with Roblox and I've been reading some sketchy stuff online about it. He's 9 and he swears all his friends play it. I know he needs to be online but how do you guys vet this stuff? Have parental controls on but I feel like I'm flying blind. Anyone have experience with this game and know if it's legit or should I pull the plug?
My 9 year old is into Roblox too. The real issue is the in-game chat with strangers. We turned that off and limited it to games he plays with real friends. That solved most of my concerns. He can still enjoy it without the creepy stuff.
Roblox gets a lot of hate online but it really depends on what your kid is playing. Some games are super safe, others have sketchy chat features. I'd say play with him, see what he's actually doing in there. That matters more than the app itself.
The sketchy stuff you're reading is mostly about the unmoderated chat features and people trying to scam kids for robux. Set some basic rules - no talking to strangers, check their activity, watch what games he plays - and it's fine.

We let ours use it but I sit with him sometimes and see what's happening. Knowing his in-game name and actually checking his friend list matters. Roblox itself isn't the problem, it's the wild west community aspect.
