Is Roblox actually safe? Parents are worried

So my kids want Roblox accounts and I've been hesitant because I hear things about online chat and stranger danger. Does anyone here let their kids play? What safety settings do you use? I want them to have fun but also not get targeted by weirdos. Looking for real parent experiences not just the scary headlines.

I let mine play Roblox but with parental controls locked down tight. The chat filter helps, and I check in on what games they're actually playing. Beats them pestering me for other stuff honestly.

My kids have accounts too. The key is being involved enough to know what they're doing without hovering. We talk about online safety the same way we talk about real world safety.
