Kid keeps asking me to let him play Roblox because all his friends play it. I downloaded it to test and the graphics are pretty basic but I'm worried about the chat and online interactions with randoms. Has anyone here let their kids play it? What precautions did you take? Is the in game chat something I should disable or am I being overprotective?
I did the same thing last week. The good news is the parental controls are solid - you can set time limits and restrict certain games. The bad news is your kid will know more about workarounds than you do. I'd say it's fine for 9 if you stay on top of it, but definitely test it yourself first like you're doing.
My oldest is 12 and plays it constantly. Honestly it's not as bad as some games, but you gotta check the chat settings because random people can message them. I turned that off immediately. As long you're monitoring playtime it should be okay.

All his friends play it so he's gonna play it anyway, right? Better to let him with boundaries than have him sneak around. Just set time limits and check in on what games he's actually playing. Some are pretty harmless.
