We've been letting our 5 year old watch it while we get dinner ready but I keep hearing horror stories about inappropriate stuff sneaking through. Has anyone had problems with it? Should we switch to something else or just keep an eye on what he's watching?
YouTube Kids has gotten better but honestly I still spot stuff that slips through. We use it with a timer during dinner prep too, but I keep the account locked down tight and check the watch history after. You're not being paranoid for worrying about it.
Same boat with two kids here. The algorithm can be weird sometimes but I've found that disabling the search function and only letting them access curated playlists helps a ton. Makes dinner prep take 5 minutes longer to set up but way less stress.

The horror stories are real but a lot of them are exaggerated. YouTube Kids is way safer than regular YouTube at least. Just don't set it and forget it completely.
