Is YouTube Kids actually safe or am I being naive?

My 3yo daughter loves watching stuff on YouTube Kids and the parental controls seem pretty solid but I keep reading horror stories about weird content slipping through. Anyone here who trusts it completely or should I be monitoring every single video? She mainly watches Bluey and Sesame Street stuff but still.

The controls are solid but I'd recommend setting screen time limits too. My daughter would watch all day if I let her. Time limits saved us from some rough evenings.

Not naive at all. My three kids use it and I feel pretty good about it compared to regular YouTube. Just set your time limits and you're golden.

You're not being naive at all. YouTube Kids has pretty solid filtering, but I still spot check what my 3yo is watching sometimes. The algorithm can be weird even with parental controls on.

Honestly it's way better than regular YouTube but nothing replaces actually knowing what she's watching. I'd suggest checking her watch history every couple weeks just to see what the algorithm is pushing her toward.
