So my 6 year old somehow memorized my iPad password and downloaded like 12 apps including some sketchy stuff before we caught him. Now he's demanding his own tablet. I want to set up parental controls but I don't even know where to start. Should I get him a kid-specific tablet or put controls on an old iPad? What do you guys recommend? Also any tips on keeping passwords secure with curious kids around?
Kids are scary smart when it comes to passwords. Mine watched me enter my code like twice and had it memorized. Change the password, check your app permissions, and maybe set up screen time limits on the device itself.
Kids remember passwords like it's nothing. At that age they're basically little hackers. Definitely get a new password and maybe set up kid mode if iPad has it.

Welcome to the club buddy. My 6 year old did the same thing last month. Change the password to something less predictable and use the built in parental controls to restrict what apps can be downloaded. Problem solved.
Yikes, sketchy apps are the worst. At least you caught it. Use the device's built in app restrictions so he can't just download whatever he wants, and maybe use a more random password this time.
This happened to us and it was a wake up call. We switched to face ID lock and kept a tighter leash on what's accessible. Six is way too young to be downloading stuff on her own. You might want to check what those 12 apps actually are.

Oh man. Time to change that password and also figure out which apps actually need to be deleted versus which ones are just weird. Some sketchy apps hide behind innocent looking names.
