My 4 year old is already asking for a tablet

He watches his older siblings and now he wants to play games too. I haven't let him have one yet but the pressure is real, especially when I need him to be occupied. We use YouTube kids occasionally and that's it. Am I behind the curve here or is keeping him off screens the right move at this age? Genuinely not sure what the research says anymore.

Four kids in our house means I've dealt with this a few times now. What helped us was having a solid alternative ready before he even asks - like building something or going outside. Keeps the tablet requests from becoming the default.

I feel the pressure too with my kids asking for screens. We've had the most success setting specific times and sticking to them, even when it's convenient to just hand it over. The short-term peace isn't worth the battle later.
