Not sure if I should be impressed or concerned lol. He somehow got into settings and just... turned it off. I didn't even know that was possible without the restrictions passcode. Now he's claiming he needs "unlimited time for educational purposes" which is obviously BS but also kind of a power move. Anyone else's kid done this? How do I actually lock this down?
nah dude this is the moment you tell him "okay, you're clearly a tech genius, so I'm hiring you as my IT support at $0.25/week" and then make him fix it himself under supervision. might as well channel that energy into something useful
My 9yo tried this exact same thing last month. Turns out he watched a YouTube video about it. The "educational purposes" excuse is the best part though 😂 My dude was trying to extend Roblox time with that argument.
Did he actually disable it or just turn off notifications? Because those are two different things. If he actually got into Screen Time settings and turned off the restrictions, that's... honestly concerning because you need YOUR passcode for that.
This is wild because my situation was the opposite - my kid somehow enabled Screen Time restrictions that I couldn't disable. Ended up calling Apple support and they had to walk me through reverting to factory settings basically. Anyway the point is: use a passcode that's DIFFERENT from your device passcode or they'll figure it out eventually.

lol that's actually impressive ngl. But yeah you gotta use Screen Time restrictions with a separate passcode - not just the device passcode. Go to Settings > Screen Time > tap the three dots > change Screen Time passcode. Make it something he can't guess. Also disable "Allow Changes" under App Limits so he can't mess with it.
