My 8yo found a way around YouTube parental controls

So my son somehow figured out how to bypass the YouTube Kids restrictions I set up. He got into the regular app and found some pretty wild content before I caught him. I thought the parental controls were supposed to be foolproof but clearly I'm the fool here. Anyone else dealt with this? Do I need to just give up on letting him have any freedom or is there a better solution that actually works?

Yeah, the parental controls arms race is real. My daughter found workarounds too and it honestly made me rethink how I was approaching it. Might be worth a conversation with your son about this.
