My 8yo is addicted to Fortnite and I don't know how to handle it

He literally wants to play it every second he's not at school. I started limiting it to weekends only but now he's sneaking to his friend's house just to play there. His grades are fine and he's not a total zombie but I feel like something needs to change. Do other parents deal with this? Am I being too strict or not strict enough? Honestly asking because I feel like I'm failing at this part.

That's reasonable honestly. Eight year olds don't need to be grinding Fortnite on school nights anyway. Just make sure you follow through consistently or he'll figure out the limit isn't actually real.

Weekends only is a solid limit to start with. My 9 year old is into Fortnite too and I'm at about the same place. The key is being consistent with the rule so he knows it's not negotiable.

At 8 years old weekends only seems right. I'd also try doing something else with him during the week so he's not just staring at the screen thinking about Fortnite the whole time.

The constant want to play is pretty normal for that age with games like Fortnite, they're literally designed to hook kids. Weekends works if you stick to it. Also try getting him into something else he can get hyped about during the week.
