My 8yo is addicted to Roblox and I don't know how to stop it

So my son gets home from school and immediately asks for Roblox. I let him play for like an hour most days but now he's asking for 2-3 hours on weekends. He's getting upset when I tell him to get off. I tried setting parental controls but he figured out how to get around them somehow. Anyone else dealing with this? What actually works to limit gaming without turning into the bad guy?

The addiction piece is real though. Have you looked at what games he's playing? Some Roblox games are designed to be super sticky with progression mechanics. Might help to understand what's pulling him in so hard.

My kid went through the same phase. What worked for us was setting a specific time window rather than a duration. Like 'Roblox is available from 4-5pm on school days' instead of 'you can play for an hour.' Took the negotiation out of it completely.

An hour a day honestly doesn't sound too bad to me. The real issue is the immediate ask when he gets home. Have you tried having a non-screen activity ready instead? Like taking him to the park or doing something together first, then maybe Roblox as a reward later?
