My 8yo is obsessed with Roblox and I'm losing my mind

He plays it every chance he gets. I set a 1 hour limit on school days but he literally cries when time is up. His friends all play it so I get why he wants to be on it but man this is exhausting. Is this normal? Should I be worried about addiction at this age or am I just being a paranoid dad?

Man, I feel this in my soul. My oldest is the same way with Roblox. I've been experimenting with some different approaches to limit it without the meltdowns. DM me if you want to talk strategies because the crying when time is up is exhausting.

I unplugged my kids from Roblox for a month and honestly the first week was terrible but then they rediscovered actual games and activities. Might be worth considering a hard reset if you can survive the chaos.

Roblox is basically digital heroin for kids that age. The crying thing is them going through actual withdrawal. Not trying to make you feel worse but understanding it's a dopamine thing helped me approach it differently with my kids.

The one hour limit on school days sounds reasonable honestly but yeah the emotional reaction is rough. Have you tried giving him a 10 minute warning before cutoff time? Sometimes transition warnings help mine accept it better.
