My 8yo just spent 3 hours on Roblox and I didn't notice

Got so caught up in work emails that I completely lost track. He was in his room playing on his iPad and I just... didn't check in. Found him at 6pm still on the same game. Now I'm second-guessing everything about my screen time boundaries. Did I mess up? He's not glued to it normally, this was just a one-off, but man I felt guilty. Any other parents have days like this where you just surrender?

My kid has also discovered Roblox and now I understand why my childhood was better. At least we went outside.

Three hours is kind of the Roblox sweet spot before they get weird and overstimulated though. Could be worse.

I set a timer on my phone because I can never trust myself to actually notice time passing. Works pretty well if you're interested in that approach.

Honestly work emails catching you off guard is way better than helicopter parenting every second. He's 8, he can handle himself for a few hours.

The iPad thing is wild because you never really know what game they're actually playing. Is he building stuff or is he in those community games?
