My 8yo wants TikTok and I'm losing my mind

So my son comes home from school saying ALL his friends have TikTok. He's 8. EIGHT. I told him absolutely not but now he's been asking every single day for the past two weeks. My wife thinks maybe we should let him with parental controls but I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Am I being too strict? What age did you guys let your kids on social media? I'm genuinely worried about the algorithm just feeding him nonsense all day.

All his friends having it is rough because kids take it personal, but 8 is just too young for that platform. Stick with your gut on this one.

Yeah that's tough. I held the line at that age too, but I get why it's exhausting. Maybe offer him some alternatives like a supervised YouTube channel or something so he doesn't feel totally left out.
