This is mortifying. My 12 year old found my username and read some pretty embarrassing posts about my life and our family stuff. We had to have a talk about privacy and boundaries but now I'm paranoid about everything I post online. Do you guys use fake names for this reason? How do you handle keeping some separation between your parent life and online life?
Man, that's rough but hey, at least you got to have the talk on your terms. Better she found it now than sneaking around reading stuff later. The fact that you sat down and talked about it shows her you're real, not just the perfect dad act.

Mortifying is the right word for it. I've been meaning to scrub my old accounts but haven't gotten to it. Did your kid bring it up or did you have to explain yourself?
This happened to me last year and I was terrified. Turned out to be kind of a good thing though - my kids realized I'm just a regular person dealing with regular stuff. Might feel awkward now but it could actually bring you closer.

Oof, I can imagine that was uncomfortable. On the bright side, she's old enough to understand that parents are complicated people with our own lives. Could be a teaching moment about privacy and growing up together.
