My kids would live on YouTube if I let them

Seriously it's like a black hole. They watch for 10 minutes and suddenly 2 hours has gone by. I've tried limiting it but then we get the whining and bargaining. Tried the reward system, tried taking it away entirely which caused absolute chaos. I don't want to be the bad guy but I also don't want them rotting their brains. How do you deal with the pushback when you enforce limits? Any of you use specific apps that help?

The YouTube rabbit hole is real. I've had to implement hard limits with screen time or my kids would literally disappear into it. Have you tried the app timers that force them off?

This is the digital parenting nightmare I think about constantly. The algorithm is literally designed to keep them watching. What limits have you tried that actually worked?

Two hours goes by like two minutes. It's crazy how it just swallows time. I've started planning outdoor stuff as the default and YouTube as the exception rather than the other way around.
