our screen time compromise that somehow works
Been struggling with this for years with my two boys (9 and 12). Finally figured out a system that doesn't make me want to scream:
- School days: 1 hour max, after homework is done
- Weekends: 2 hours, but they have to earn 30 min by doing chores or reading
- No screens 1 hour before bed
- Family gaming night on Thursdays - we all play Mario Kart or something together
It's not perfect but they're actually going outside more and not fighting us on it as much. Took about 3 weeks to get them used to it.
This is exactly what we need to hear. Everyone talks about their struggles but it's rare to see someone actually post that they figured something out. What's the system?
