Set up Screen Time on my 12 year olds iPhone to limit his apps and he somehow figured out the passcode I set. I made it as random as I could but he brute forced it apparently. Now he's just disabling all my controls when I'm not looking. Feeling pretty dumb right now. Any suggestions that actually work or is this just an unwinnable battle?
This is exactly what I'm dealing with right now with my two. The tech moves faster than the parental controls sometimes. Have you checked if there's a newer version of iOS that might have better security options? That's usually my first move when something like this happens.
Yeah man, I feel this pain with three kids. My oldest did the same thing last year. Have you tried setting a really complex passcode and writing it down somewhere he can't find it? Also might be worth looking into whether Apple has any updates that tighten things up.
Yeah Screen Time is pretty easy to crack if you know what you're doing and these kids all know what they're doing. You might need to use actual parental control apps instead of just the built in stuff. It's frustrating but worth the upgrade.
That's impressive and annoying at the same time. His brain works fast. Maybe instead of trying to lock everything down, have a real conversation with him about why the limits exist. Sometimes that works better than pure tech restrictions with older kids.

Kids are way smarter about this stuff than we give them credit for. He probably watched a YouTube video on how to crack it or got a tip from a friend. You might need to look into third party apps that are harder to bypass. What did you catch him accessing?
